Open Positions for 2016-2017
Special Education Teacher (EP), Assistant High School Track Coach
Dear Tuscola CUSD #301 Students, Parents, Community Members, and Alumni:
It is with great pride that I once again welcome everyone to a new school year. I say this every year, but it’s hard to believe we are days away from the start of the 2016-2017 year.
It is even harder to believe that Shannon, and I are entering our 20th year as members of the Tuscola Community.
This is my sixth year with the district and it continues to be an honor and a privilege for me to serve as Superintendent of Tuscola schools.
On August 18, close to 1,000 students, from preschool thru 12th grade, will walk through the doors of North Ward, East Prairie, and Tuscola High School.
In doing so, they will once again be taking advantage of the wonderful educational opportunities provided by the taxpayers of this community.
The Tuscola school district excels above many others because our parents, teachers, staff, and community do a wonderful job of supporting our students and setting high expectations.
I’ve always believed these high expectations are the secret to success in the education of young people.
I also believe our school board and staff are continuing to do a very good job in the area of school finance. This district has made great strides in our financial situation, and we will continue to make this a priority. While many of these decisions are not easy, they had and continue to be made for our students this year, five years from now, and even for our grandkids.
Because of our good fortune in initially receiving the City Sales Tax and now the Douglas County Sales Tax, the community will continue to see improvements to the district’s three school buildings. This summer has been another exciting one with all of our on-going building projects. Windows at the high school, a repainted TCHS gym floor, doors at East Prairie, new security systems and phones are just a few of the things we’ve been able to check off our list in the last 3 months.
Updates and improvements are happening on an almost daily basis.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone for their continued support of our students and school district.
Without the help of so many community members and groups, we would not be able to reach the high level of success that is achieved consistently by the Tuscola School District.
Welcome back. It’s going to be a good year to be a Warrior.
